اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُوْرِ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِیْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ یَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ مِنْهَاۤ اَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ١ؕ ذٰلِكَ الدِّیْنُ الْقَیِّمُ١ۙ۬ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوْا فِیْهِنَّ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَ قَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِكِیْنَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا یُقَاتِلُوْنَكُمْ كَآفَّةً١ؕ وَ اعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِیْنَ ۳۶
حقیقت یہ ہے کہ مہینوں کی تعداد جب سے اللہ نے آسمان و زمین کو پیدا کیا ہے اللہ کے نوشتے میں بارہ ہی ہے، اور ان میں سے چار مہینے حرام ہیں یہی ٹھیک ضابطہ ہے لہٰذا ان چار مہینوں میں اپنے اوپر ظلم نہ کرو اور مشرکوں سے سب مل کر لڑو جس طرح وہ سب مل کر تم سے لڑتے ہیں اور جان رکھو کہ اللہ متقیوں ہی کے ساتھ ہے
Surely the reckoning of months, in the sight of Allah, is twelve months, laid down in Allah's decree on the day when He created the heavens and the earth; and out of these months four are sacred. That is the true ordainment. Do not, therefore, wrong yourselves, with respect to these months. And fight all together against those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity in the manner that they fight against you all together, and know well that Allah is with the God-fearing.
